Free Credit Report

So for a while, I’ve been looking around and browsing for legitimate companies that can give me my free credit report. I’m looking to buy a new house in a year , so I wanted to make sure my credit is in great standing as well as my score is higher than 700. Anyways, after some searching and reading on random forums on companies who offer free credit reports , I found this site Your Credit Rank.

They offer alot more than free credit reports. On the front page , they ask you whether you want to refinance, get out of debt, Buying a home. etc. I think its a pretty clever idea since they lead you to the right form based on your selection. Since I am looking into buying a home I selected that and I proceeded with filling out the form.

They offer a Free 7 day trial and at first I was planning to cancel as soon as I got my free credit repot. But after getting their service, I think I’m gonna stay with them and just continue to have my credit monitored. Honestly, this site is probably one of the fewest sites that dont bother you over and over and give you what you want.

As we can see, the american economy is at the lowest low. Given that I lost ALOT of money in the stock market this past summer I decided to pull what was left over of it out and just start reading financial websites to kinda keep me uptodate. I’ve found a couple of good ones which I think are only going to get more popular in the coming months. one is Go Banking Rates. Its a cool site. It covers sections from CD Rates to Credit Cards and Auto Loans. And they update their articles pretty frequently which is always good. Some of the offers they have sometimes arent to bad either. I was browign their Saving Accounts section and clicked on an offer they had with ING Direct and GMAC Bank which pretty good interest rates on their savings accounts and cd accounts.

One other neat feature they have is the ability to comment their articles. You can read other peoples point of view and get involved in the community and learn from others.

The neatest thing I saw on their site is this pink pig savings calculator. At first I thought it was just a gimic. But after pulling out my college calculus book and calculating the number what they display is actually the real thing.!! check it out !!

My New Computer System

So after a couple of months of saving up and researching. This weekend i finally purchased a new computer system. Remind you that I have had the same laptop for the past 8 years. I had windows on it for 4 years, then moved to linux then one day it just gave out on me.

Anyways, my budget for the new system was originally 500 bones and I had planned to buy a bare bone and build it out myself. However, after many contemplations an ended up going over budget by 120 bucks and bought a HP slimline system with a AMD Athlon 64 bit Dual Core processor with 320 GB of HD space and 3GB or ram. They system originally came with windows vista. But I dual booted the system with 20% of it on vista and the rest linux. I decided to keep the vista because I have a few music editing and djing softwares that run only on windows. Long story short, this cost me 400 bucks after online rebate which I find to be a very good price. As far as the monitor goes, after going to 4 major electronic stores , I fell in love with the Gateway 22″ HDMI monitor with a contrast of 20000:1 and a screen resolution of 1680×1050. This cost me 200 bucks, but i love the resolution and how it displays colors.

No complaints so far….
